Kaspersky produces false alarms with Google ads
We are currently receiving an increasing number of messages about virus alerts by Kaspersky and G-Data when accessing web pages – including the pages of heise online. When asked by heise Security, Kaspersky's Communications Manager, Christian Wirsig, confirmed that these are false alarms.
The topic is also being heavily discussed in the Kaspersky forums. The anti-virus program apparently gets alerted by links to hxxp://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js, which are used for inserting Google ads. As a result, Kaspersky issues a warning about an alleged trojan.js.redirector.ar. However, neither manually checking the file nor analysing it with the virus scanners at Virustotal produces any suspicious content. As some versions of G-Data also use the Kaspersky engine and its signatures, G-Data users occasionally receive similar warnings.
Kaspersky regrets any inconvenience this may cause. The developers are reportedly working on an update which will, if possible, be released before the end of today and will automatically be deployed to all users.
