Priyanka messes with WhatsApp
A WhatsApp exploit that changes all WhatsApp conversation names to "Priyanka" is currently making the rounds. The vulnerability can only be exploited if the user accepts a contact file called "Priyanka" and the exploit can't redistribute itself. It can be removed without losing any WhatsApp conversations or contacts, although this is only possible with the help of WhatsApp's automatic backup feature. The exploit is probably a prank.

The AndroidSoul blog says that to fully remove Priyanka, the contact file must be removed first. Then all of the WhatsApp data must be deleted in the phone's app settings, which is equivalent to reinstalling the app. Contacts and conversations will then be restored to the smartphone from the backup files.
Temporarily uninstalling WhatsApp has a similar effect. When the program is reinstalled, it offers to restore old conversations from its backups. Priyanka should then be gone, and the rest should be back.

Disclosed by a blogger called Shivam, the exploit appears to affect WhatsApp for Android devices. How exactly the exploit works is currently unknown. Apparently, it not only modifies conversation names but can also potentially corrupt all contact names. "Priyanka" is an Indian female first name.
