Apache Ivy 2.0.0 released
Apache Ivy, the open source dependency management tool, has been updated to version 2.0.0. The software allows developers to administer project dependencies, without switching over to a full software package management tool such as Maven. Apache Ivy is tightly integrated with Apache Ant and allows developers who use Ant to move to using repositories for retrieving packages, rather than keeping and manually managing, a private collection of packages, or artefacts.
This release is the first non-beta release since the project was moved under the Apache Software Foundation's umbrella. The most important features of the new version include compatibility with Maven 2 repositories, revised Cache management, Concurrency support, and the option to add extra attributes to be validated. This release also includes numerous bug fixes.
Ivy was created in 2004 by Jayasoft and moved into the Apache Incubator in October 2006. In October 2007, it graduated from the incubator to become a sub-project of Apache Ant. Version 2.0.0 is available to download from the project's website.
