Apache Maven 2.1.0 released
The Apache Maven developers have released version 2.1.0 of their Java project management tool. Maven can manage the assembly, building, reporting and documentation of Java projects, retrieving required artifacts, code or other resources, from Maven repositories.
The new version adds a number of new features, including secure storage of server passwords, parallel resolution of artifacts and a command line option to control the location of global settings. The parallel resolution, by default, allows Maven to run five threads to retrieve and resolve dependencies. According to the related entry in the issue tracker, this has resulted in up to 40 per cent improvement in build time for some users.
The release also includes over 50 bug fixes and 20 improvements since the 2.1.0-M1 preview release. Full details are available in the release notes.
