Appcelerator buys HTML5 expertise
Appcelerator, developer of open source tools for programming mobile apps, has acquired Particle Code, thereby gaining Particle Code's expertise in the areas of HTML5 mobile application development and mobile game programming. Appcelerator's core product is Titanium, a hybrid framework for the development of desktop and mobile applications for Android and iOS, using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Ruby, Python and JavaScript.
With Particle Code's solutions, developers can use the same codebase to develop both native and hybrid mobile apps, basing their development on an open platform strategy. Titanium's HTML5 support still has only beta status and it is expected that the next step will be the release of a specialised HTML5 product in the first half of next year.
