BIKE's lightweight management tool for MySQL servers

BIKE in action BIKE is a lightweight tool for developers and users who want to get a better view of their MySQL server without installing complex applications that present extensive spreadsheet views of the tables. Written in PHP, Bike skips those complex views and offers no forms for creating queries. Instead it passes SQL statements directly to MySQL and displays the results in the browser. Once a query is entered, Bike can save the query for future use (under a "Saved" menu) or display it in a tab, optionally refreshing it at regular user-specified intervals.

If BIKE is required to work with an existing WordPress, Joomla or Drupal system, the program only needs to be copied into a subfolder of the current CMS installation and then the software can automatically determine the database configuration. Otherwise, a simple configuration file will supply the program with details of the database connection. BIKE doesn't store saved queries in the database and so will require a directory in its own folder to be made writable. It can retain 40 recent queries and any number of named saved queries. There is also the ability to add a "library" of common SQL snippets.

The current version of BIKE has no authentication functionality; the author recommends using the web server's own HTTP authentication to restrict access to the BIKE folder and protect access to the database. BIKE is available to download as a packed version or from the project's GitHub repository. The software is freely available, but is not under any specific open source licence.
