First stable version of Chrome for Android released

Chrome for Android has seen its first stable version released by the Google Chrome development team. The mobile browser is tipped to be a future replacement for Google's default browser on the mobile operating system for smartphones and tablets. The opening up of a "Stable Channel" for the mobile browser is a milestone in the development of the mobile browser and comes less than 5 months after the test versions were first introduced. The developers say the new version includes important stability and performance fixes over the previous beta.
The first stable Chrome for Android release, version 18.0.1025123, also incorporates some user interface adjustments, particularly for the tablet UI. According to Google Product Manager Srikanth Rajagopalan, other release channels of Chrome for Android, similar to those for the desktop version of Chrome, will be available in the future.
Chrome for Android 18.0.1025123 is available to download from the Google Play store and requires Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" or later. A list of known issues, including device specific problems, is available from Google's Chrome support site.
