Cotton Candy ready to be pre-ordered, runs Ubuntu and Android 4.0

FXI Technologies Cotton Candy

The Norwegian company FXI Technologies has started accepting pre-orders for their Cotton Candy, a small computer that comes in the form of a USB pendrive. The stick uses the host computer's display and input devices when plugged into another machine, but can also be used in a standalone mode – it comes with an HDMI port and can connect to peripherals via a Bluetooth 2.1 EDR connection or a Micro-USB port, while being powered over the USB connection.

Storage for the system is provided by a microSD card with a maximum capacity of 64GB and 1GB of RAM is available on the board. The ARM system-on-a-chip features two Cortex A9 CPU cores running at 1 GHz and a Mali-400 MP GPU (4 cores at 1.2 GHz). FXI Technologies is offering a port of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or of Ubuntu as the operating system for the device.

The Cotton Candy can be pre-ordered for £139 from the FXI Technologies web site for a planned delivery in March.
