Debian wheezy for Raspberry Pi goes into testing
Now testing Debian "wheezy"
The developers working on Raspberry Pi are working on a release of the next generation of Debian, "wheezy" and have released a test image for users to try out on the mini-computer. The current release of Debian GNU/Linux for the Raspberry Pi is based on the current release of Debian, "squeeze".
The developers of the new image are using a new build system which should "solve most outstanding problems" and are currently working on moving packages over to an official repository. Testers are told, as the image is solely for testing, not to expect any upgrade path from this to an official release. The image itself contains Scratch, Python, Midori, configuration tools, omxplayer and support for auto mounting USB drives; it also includes packaged "firmware" to enable more modules and devices.
