FSFE opens 2012 Document Freedom Award nominations
The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) has announced that it is seeking nominations for its fourth annual Document Freedom Award. Each year, the FSFE, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the furthering of open source and free software, presents the Document Freedom Award on Document Freedom Day (DFD) to an institution or company that makes a contribution to expanding open standards – DFD 2012 will be 28 March.
Previous winners of the Document Freedom Award include broadcaster ARD for offering its broadcast shows on Tagesschau.de in the free Ogg Theora video format and Deutschlandradio, a national German public radio broadcaster, for broadcasting its live streams using Ogg Vorbis. In 2008, the German Foreign Office received the award
for its move to the Open Document Format (ODF).
Proposals can be submitted by emailing [email protected]; the deadline for submissions is 1 February.
