Firebug 1.10 released with new cookie manager

Version 1.10.0 of the Firebug web development tool has been released with several new features, such as a cookie manager and support for syntax highlighting. The major update to the open source web debugger is now compatible with the current stable Firefox 13 release as well as the Beta (14), Aurora (15) and Nightly (16) branches. It no longer requires the browser to be restarted upon installation; however, users upgrading from version1.9 will need to restart.

Source: Mozilla The new cookie manager in Firebug 1.10.0 allows developers to easily view and manage browser cookies, and create new ones. Additionally, cookies can be automatically denied for specific sites. The command editor, also known as the multiline command line, supports syntax highlighting and has a new help command that lists the built-in commands that are available. A Trace Styles feature, part of the Computed side panel, allows tracing of specific CSS properties. Custom font-family declarations can be quickly inspected by right-clicking on a font-family value and selecting Inspect Declaration; this automatically sends users to the CSS panel where the font-family is declared.

Source: Mozilla The HTML panel includes new options for changing the displayed format of HTML entries and, in the CSS, Style and Computed panels, an option has been added to change the format (Hex, RGB, HSL) of CSS colours. Other changes include the addition of tooltips for all menu items, improvements to the auto-complete feature, support for media queries and the "focus" CSS pseudo class, and an option to delete an entire CSS rule with all of its properties. The developers also note that the update fixes more than 200 issues in the previous version, and, on Firefox 15 or later, brings "significant improvements related to memory consumption".

The Firebug add-on provides a number of features to help developers debug web applications – it includes a JavaScript debugger, network analysis tools for examining usage and performance, and the ability to inspect and modify HTML and CSS styling in real-time within the browser. Originally created by Joe Hewitt, the project is now run by the Firebug Working Group.

Firebug 1.10 is available to download from Mozilla's Add-ons for Firefox site. Since the previous release, the BSD-licensed source code for Firebug has been moved from Google Code to GitHub.
