GitHub introduces GitHub for Mac
Source: GitHub
GitHub has introduced a new tool for Mac developers using the hosted Git system, GitHub for Mac. The graphical tool integrates with GitHub's accounts and allows users to view all the repositories that they work with on GitHub. Users can view the repositories and their commit histories, drilling down into individual commits, navigating to different branches, merging or deleting branches or pulling in remote commits.
The developers at GitHub say GitHub For Mac "wouldn't have been possible without some awesome open source projects" – libgit2, objective-git and Chameleon. They have a fork of the Chameleon library which contains their modifications. Like the GitHub infrastructure that sits over the open source Git distributed version control system to allow the company to offer private or public repositories, GitHub for Mac is not open source; it is, though, free to download and free to use and GitHub will use an automatic update system to keep it up to date.
