Inkscape scalable vector editor updated
After nearly six months of work and delays, the Inkscape development team has released the second point update to version 0.48 of its open source scalable vector editor. According to the developers, the update improves the application's overall stability and functionality on all supported platforms.
Inkscape 0.48.2 addresses a regression on Windows related to the "Save as" dialogue and bugs that caused the program to crash when drawing. Other changes include an update to prevent coredumps when opening SVG files with gradients, plus various translation updates. The developers also note that they plan to release at least one more point update before the next major update arrives, version 0.49.
More details about this update, including a list of known issues, can be found on the milestone page and in the release notes. Inkscape 0.48.2 is available to download as pre-compiled executables for Windows and Mac OS X, or as source code which can be also be compiled on Linux. Hosted on SourceForge, Inkscape source is licensed under the GPLv2.
