MeeBlip launches improved version of their open hardware synthesizer

The MeeBlip open source hardware project has announced an improved version of their hackable synthesizer. The MeeBlip SE comes with several new features that were added following user feedback on the first device. The device is available as a "quick build kit" which only requires minimal assembly and as a slightly cheaper DIY option that requires "an evening or two of soldering and assembly".

Improvements from the previous version include a slightly changed control layout, the ability to store and recall up to 16 patches and the ability to fully control the device via a MIDI interface. The MeeBlip SE now also supports anti-aliased waveforms and variable pulse width that can be adjusted via a dedicated control. If users happen to own an original MeeBlip, they can get all of these features (with the exception of the preset storage) by updating the firmware on the device.

The MeeBlip SE will start shipping on 16 March and will cost $149.95 (£95) for the "quick build kit", needing only assembly, and $129.95 (£82) for the version that still needs components to be soldered and then assembled.
