Miranda IM messaging client adds Yahoo conference support

Nearly two years after version 0.9.0 arrived, the developers at the Miranda IM project have published version 0.10.0 of their open source instant messaging (IM) client for Windows. Miranda IM supports a number of messaging protocols such as AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), ICQ, IRC (Internet Relay Chat), Jabber, MSN and Yahoo, and it can be customised and extended using plugins from the project's Addons directory.

Support for Yahoo's IM Conferencing feature – which allows users to communicate with a number of other users at the same time in a conference room – has been added in Miranda IM v0.10.0, as has Windows Phone detection for MSN. According to lead developer Robert Rainwater, the Jabber (XMPP) resource selection logic has been re-written in order to comply with its RFCs, and improvements have been made to networking support and the MSN P2P connectivity protocol.

Language support has been improved through the addition of a new language pack format as well as per user language packs. Other changes include fixes for Google Talk (GTalk) login problems, memory leaks and bugs that caused the application to crash in some instances.

Source code and binaries for Miranda IM are hosted on Google Code and are licensed under the GPLv2. The project's hosting and other costs are funded by donations from the community.
