Phoronix Test Suite 2.2 released
The Phoronix developers have announced the availability of version 2.2 of their Phoronix Test Suite (PTS), code-named "Bardu". The latest release of the open source Linux benchmarking tool includes a number of updates and new features.
Phoronix Test Suite 2.2 features statistical significance verification, anonymous usage reporting and usability improvements to the graphical user-interface. According to the developers, the 2.2 update also incorporates 120 test profiles and 50 test suites. Other notable changes include support for automated regression tracking, test recovery, multiple display modes, network proxies and more supported operating systems, including Mac OS X 10.6, FreeBSD 8.0, Ubuntu 9.10 and Fedora 12. The release also contains "early-look" support for OpenSolaris 2010.02.
According to Michael Larabel, founder of Phoronix Media and the lead architect of the Phoronix Test Suite, future versions "will continue to expand the robustness of the Phoronix Test Suite while driving our presence in other areas, including support for testing Microsoft Windows operating systems". The next major release scheduled for 2010, code named "Lenvik" is already "well into planning and development," said Larabel.
More details about the release can be found in the release announcement, change log and in the provided documentation. Phoronix Test Suite 2.2 is available to download and is released under version 3 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv3).
