Rhomobile Rhodes framework for smartphones released

Rhomobile logo Rhomobile has released version 1.0 of it's Rhodes framework. Rhodes is an open source Ruby-based framework that allows developers to create platform independent applications using HTML code. Those applications are then translated into device-optimised native mobile applications for various smartphone platforms, including Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Symbian.

Rhomobile is using a special dual licensing model for Rhodes. Open source developers can use Rhodes to create their applications under the GPL v3 license at no charge and download the framework directly from the GIT repository. However, non-open source applications are required to sign a commercial use license and pay either a percentage of sales, per user or yearly per application.
