Second beta of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 released
Having released the first public beta version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 in April, Red Hat has now made a second beta of its Linux distribution available to download; the final version is expected to be released in the second half of the year, . The beta is said to be "feature complete" which means it contains all the functions RHEL6 will eventually offer. According to the release announcement, a third beta is to be released in a few weeks.
While the first beta was only released as a single variant for each of the supported processor architectures, the second beta is available in both a Server and a Workstation version. Details about the range of features can be found in the release notes; the changes in packages added, removed or modified since the first beta are listed in a document which one of the Red Hat developers has posted to his homepage.
