SpringSource delivers first Grails 2.0.0 milestone
The SpringSource developers have announced the release of the first milestone for version 2.0.0 of their Grails web application framework built on Java and Groovy. According to the developers, the 2.0 milestone improves the developer experience "dramatically" and adds a number of new features.
Built on Hibernate 3.6, Grails 2.0.0.M1 adds support for Groovy 1.8 from the end of April, and offers a new console that has been designed to make it "more concise and user friendly". Other changes include various Grails Object Relational Mapping (GORM) improvements and new unit testing support, as well as support for database migration and reverse engineering. Servlet 3.0 Asynchronous features and the loading of static resources from binary plugins via the resources plugins are also supported.
Further information about this first milestone can be found in the release notes, change log and in the What's new in Grails 2.0 Guide. Grails 2.0.0.M1 is available to download under the terms of the Apache 2.0 License, and documentation is provided.
