SystemRescueCd 2.5.0 drops Firefox

Version 2.5.0 of SystemRescueCd drops Firefox in favour of the lightweight Midori web browser The SystemRescueCd project has released version 2.5.0 of its Linux distribution for administering or repairing an operating system and recovering data after a system crash. Based on the Gentoo LiveCD and using Xfce as its default desktop, the new version of the distribution sees its standard kernel upgraded to 3.0.21, while the alternative kernel has been upgraded to the more recent 3.2.6 release.

To save space, Firefox has been replaced as the default web browser by Midori, a lightweight, WebKit-based browser. The developers have also added fdupes, an application for finding duplicate files that includes options to list, delete or replace files with links pointing to the duplicate. Other package changes and updates include version 0.12.0 of the Gnome PARTition EDitor (GParted), Partclone 0.2.38, the current stable release of the btrfs-progs utilities for the Btrfs filesystem and version 1.42 of the e2fsprogs filesystem utilities.
