Tiny Core Linux 2.10 released

Tiny Core Linux 2.10 running Chromium. Tiny Core lead developer Robert Shingledecker has announced the availability of version 2.10 of Tiny Core Linux. Tiny Core is a minimal Linux distribution that is based on the 2.6.29.1 Linux kernel and is only 10.6 MB in size. In addition to the usual bug fixes, the latest update includes several changes and updates.

The latest 2.10 release features Appbrowser changes, updated cpanel cursor support and graphical changes, including a new default background, title bar colour changes and a new Tiny Core logo. The Appbrowser updates include a redesigned graphical user interface (GUI), a dropped menu for buttons and a new status area. Shingledecker notes that, as recursion is now fully supported, he "strongly encouraged" all users to upgrade to version 2.10 to take advantage of new and updated extensions using recursion.

The "tiny frugal" desktop distribution features the BusyBox tool collection and a minimal graphics system based on Tiny X and JWM. The core can run entirely in RAM, allowing for very quick booting. With the help of online repositories, Tiny Core Linux can be expanded to include additional applications.
