Wine 1.1.17 released

The Wine development release 1.1.17 is now available and includes several new features and bug fixes. Wine, which stands for "Wine is not an emulator", allows Linux, BSD and Mac OS X users to run Windows applications by providing its own versions of Windows libraries, compiled for the platform in use.

The free Windows API implementation now includes joystick support on Mac OS X and a number of 64-bit improvements on all platforms. Obsolete LinuxThreads support has been removed and the release also includes fixes to the regression tests on Windows.

Over 20 bugs have been fixed, including an un-handled exception error causing Internet Explorer 7 to fail after start and broken audio under Solaris. A bug that affected FreeBSD resulting in launch failure for a majority of applications, has also been fixed, as well as a Powerpoint 2007 issue causing a crash when loading complex .pptx files.
