World of Goo for Linux
A Linux version of the game World of Goo from the San Francisco game developer 2D Boy was released last week. World of Goo is a physics based puzzle and construction game, with the goal of building towers and bridges to move the Goo around to reach a drainage pipe.
The Linux version was released due to a large number of requests from users and has now surpassed the developers expectations. In the post on their blog, Kyle Gabler says that the Linux version of the game already represents 4.6 per cent of the total number of downloads.
The game is "100 per cent region and DRM free" and is currently available on WiiWare, Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X 10.4 or later and Linux. The Linux version comes as both Deb and RPM packages, as well as a compressed tar archive. So far "about 12 per cent of Linux downloads are of the .rpm package, 30 per cent are of the .tar.gz package, and 57 per cent are of the .deb package." The full version of the game is $20.00 and a demo is available for those who want to try the game first.
