Visual Basic Script

Visual Basic Script (VBS) is a language designed by Microsoft for client-side scripting and provides a subset of the functions of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), the macro language of Microsoft Office. VBS only works with Internet Explorer, version 4.0 and above; other browsers do not support VBS. It is hardly used for client-side scripting on the Web, where JavaScript/JScript is the preferred option. Authors of viruses and worms, on the other hand, love VBS. They embed VBS code in HTML mails. If the security settings are not restrictive enough, email programs that use Internet Explorer to display HTML emails execute the VBS code. Damaging VBS code may also be executed through attached HTML files.
VBS can only be enabled or disabled together with JScript under the "active scripting" option in Internet Explorer.
