Fedora Logo After holding the position for over two years, Paul W. Frields has announced that he will be stepping down as the Fedora Project Leader (FPL). According to his announcement post on the Fedora Advisory Board mailing list, Frields, while thanking his peers, managers and the community for the support he's received, says that he is "interested in branching out into other ways of championing free and open source software at Red Hat".

Frields notes that he will not be stepping down from his position immediately, adding that "there's no one driving this decision other than me." He also says that he hopes to "smoothly pass on the role of Fedora Project Leader, and make sure the person who next takes this role can be fully successful in it." Regardless what of he's doing at Red Hat, he promises that he will assist the next FPL as much as possible, as his predecessor, Max Spevack, did for him.
